It’s common practice, however, for games and tournaments to employ the best three out of five sets to choose a winner. Three to five 25-point sets make up a typical volleyball match. If the first team gets 25 points, they win the volleyball match. A two-point margin of victory is required. If the score remains equal at the end of regulation, extra time will be played until one team has a two-point lead. Whoever scores first and takes a two-point lead in a deciding fifth set is declared to have won.
